Kodachrome memories

We climbed Santa Ana Peak, near Hollister, California (no beaches there) near the end of our senior year of high school in 1979. Not sure why. Made and posted a flag at the top on this wooden structure. Carved our names. Need to go back.

Sky Slider

A pilot slides across the sky at The Wings Over Wine Country Airshow in Santa Rosa, CA in 2008.
Smoke from a previous maneuver filled the sky and framed the slide across the sky.

I concentrated on exposure and composition during image capture. I worked on the exposure and saturation in post processing to accentuate the unusual movement I saw across the sky.
 

RIP Ronnie Montrose March 3, 2012

Ronnie Montrose at the 2005 Hollister Independence Rally. Ronnie asked Pat Travers to join him on stage to play "Mean Motor Scooter". My friend hosted the VIP area for the bands so my pass allowed me front-of-stage access to the show. I'd never been so close to legendary rock artists...just feet away and no crowds. Best. Concert. Ever.

Curtiss P-40 Warhawk

A Curtiss P-40 Warhawk displayed with the engine canopy open for view at The Wings Over Wine Country Airshow in Santa Rosa, CA in 2011.

I found this an intriguing study of shape and color. I chose to enhance these attributes through composition and a unique viewing angle. During processing I modified clarity, shadow detail and color saturation to complete the image.

Note of the original 13,738 P-40s built only about 19 are in airworthy condition. Others are being honored as static displays and more are in various stages of restoration.
